Studio Zero is powered by generosity.
We operate on a shoestring budget, with low overhead. There are a few annual fees and some insurance, but no salary or rent. We leverage a lot of donated technology, such as free ads from Google Grants, and web hosting from Green House Data.
The biggest expense has been paying for travel between the various sites where we gather for our retreats and workshops.
Thus far, my compensation has been limited to the “free vacation” I get by extending the official travels. For example, Studio Zero flies me to Boston for the Star Island Meditation Retreat, and afterwards I visit my family in New York “for free”. That’s a nice benefit, but otherwise it’s an unpaid ministry.
In recent years, after donations and event fees, we have managed to break even on expenses. To remain sustainable, however, we will need to get beyond just breaking even.
With a bigger budget, we could give more scholarships, extend our outreach, and pay me a modest honorarium.
Thank you for supporting this mission of spiritual hospitality!
Together we are making an impact.
